Class Description: Take your wheel-throwing skills to the next level in this intermediate to advanced ceramics class focused on creating large-scale forms. Designed for experienced potters comfortable with centering and throwing consistent forms, this course will challenge students to push the boundaries of scale, technique, and structural integrity on the wheel. Through demonstrations, guided practice, and individualized feedback, students will learn methods for throwing and assembling large vessels in sections, advanced techniques for managing clay weight and wall thickness, and strategies for controlling drying and firing of oversized work. Emphasis will be placed on form, proportion, and surface refinement, as well as troubleshooting common challenges unique to working at a larger scale. This is NOT a class for beginners.
