Class Length: 4 weeks, 10am -1pm each Thursday, beginning April 9th
Tuition: 170 (+ $40 materials fee)
Class Description: Curious about clay but not sure where to start? This 4-week beginner clay intensive offers the perfect introduction to both wheel throwing and handbuilding, giving students the opportunity to explore multiple ways of working with clay in a supportive, hands-on environment. Students will learn the fundamentals of the pottery wheel, including preparing clay, centering, pulling walls, and forming simple vessels like cups and bowls. In addition to wheel work, the course will introduce essential handbuilding techniques such as slab, pinch, and coil construction—expanding the possibilities for creating both functional and sculptural pieces. Each class includes demonstrations, guided practice, and personalized instruction to help students build confidence and develop foundational skills. Students will also learn basic finishing techniques such as trimming, assembling, and surface details. By the end of the four weeks, participants will have a strong introduction to working with clay and a collection of handmade pieces ready for glazing and firing. Perfect for anyone interested in exploring pottery while learning both traditional and creative approaches to ceramics.
