Event Length: 6pm – 8pm, on Saturday February 28th

Join us for a series for visual artists, covering all kinds of topics pertinent to career paths and goals, finding inspiration, building portfolios, approaching galleries and so much more. In this iteration of this free workshop, you are invited to learn about how to create your own, functioning, art studio at home and if that’s the best path for you in your creative journey.

Topic: Photographing Your Artwork with Confidence

High-quality images of your artwork are essential for submissions, portfolios, websites, and social media—but photographing your work doesn’t have to be intimidating or expensive. In this two-hour artist talk, we’ll cover the fundamentals of taking clear, professional-looking photographs of your artwork using accessible tools and simple setups.

Topics will include lighting basics, choosing the right background, camera and phone settings, framing and perspective, and common mistakes to avoid. We’ll also discuss photographing different types of work (2D, 3D, and textured surfaces), basic editing tips, and how to prepare images for applications and online use. This talk is ideal for artists at any stage who want to present their work clearly, accurately, and confidently.

We welcome the following speakers/artists this evening:

Deb Balestreri- Owner of Corgi Clay LLC and Corgi Clay Art Center LLC. Deb has been a working artist for over two decades in the field of ceramics and has acted as a judge, juror and gallery owner. She has taught all skill levels from public school through academia and professionally on her own in her home studio and various art centers.

Crystal Rodrigue – Crystal’s dedication to traditional film photography is the catalyst for her work.  By the use of vintage cameras, unique films, and an endless curiosity of developing techniques, she is able to present a viewer with an interpretation of a private and vulnerable world that she experiences. She has been the Gallery Manager at LibertyTown Arts Workshop since 2019.

Age Limitations: Ages 16 through adult.  This is a great event to attend as a high school senior interested in a visual arts degree or a college student coming out with a BA or BFA in the arts, or anyone interested in the arts or artists speaking about their work!
