Class Length: 8 weeks,10am – 12pm each Saturday

Class Description: This class teaches beginning skills in Hand Building and is a great introduction to working with clay. Even if you are more interested in learning the wheel, you may want to begin with this class because it will give you an advantage if you take a wheel class later on. You will learn to make both decorative and functional things from stoneware clay using only your hands and a few tools. You will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with a variety of glazes. Students will complete several projects throughout the course, learning the basics of clay materials and handbuilding — all skills necessary to work independently in open studio. Best of all, the class is repeatable as the instructor will continue to teach new skills and techniques every session.
