Description
Class Length: 8 weeks, 6pm-9pm each Thursday, beginning January 8th
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Tuition: $240 (+ $70 materials fee)
Class Description: This introductory class is perfect for anyone curious about working with clay and learning the fundamentals of sculpture. Over the course of the session, you’ll explore essential hand-building techniques—such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction—while discovering how to shape, refine, and bring your ideas to life in three dimensions. We’ll cover basic tools, surface textures, and simple sculpting strategies that make the process approachable and fun. Whether you’re creating a small figure, an abstract form, or a decorative object, you’ll build confidence as you go and leave with a unique sculpture of your own. No experience needed—just a willingness to play and create!
Age Limitations: Ages 16 & Up
Supplies Included: Tuition covers clay, firings, and use of communal tools and equipment.
Additional Supplies: Each student will need their own basic ceramic tool kit to get started. We have these available for purchase at the art center for $30 but we recommend you purchase prior to day one of class when we are open to the public, otherwise please bring cash with you to hand to the instructor. Please also provide your own apron and a personal hand towel to each class (We don’t use paper towels in this facility and we don’t do laundry!) Your instructor will email you prior to class with other suggested tools.
