Description

Class Length:  8 weeks, 1pm -4pm each Thursday, beginning January 8th

Tuition: $240 (+ $65 materials fee)

Class Description: Learn to create functional AND sculptural ceramics by hand. This 8-week hand building course invites both beginners and returning makers to explore functional or sculptural ceramics in a relaxed, creative environment. We’ll cover essential techniques like pinch, coil, and slab building—not just as skills, but as tools for storytelling, texture, and form. You’ll learn how to bring your pots to life through organic shapes, layered surfaces, and thoughtful details, all while discovering your personal voice in clay. This class balances guided projects with space for your own creative exploration. You don’t need to master a potter’s wheel to make beautiful, elegant, everyday-use-wares for the whole family to enjoy. You just need time, practice, patience and encouragement, so we’ll see you there!

Age Limitations: Ages 16 & Up

Supplies Included: Tuition covers 25 lbs of clay, use of studio glazes, all firings, and use of communal tools and equipment.

Additional Supplies: Each student will need their own basic ceramic tool kit. We have these available for purchase at the art center for $30 but we recommend you purchase prior to day one of class when we are open to the public, otherwise please bring cash with you to hand to the instructor. Please also provide your own apron and a personal hand towel to each class (We don’t use paper towels in this facility and we don’t do laundry!)
